January 11, 2023

A bit cooler today...no rain, nor snow, however.

I spent the day working in the kitchen, reorganizing the cupboards and putting away baking supplies.  Funny how things get really messed up during the holidays.

On Wednesday, my plans include sharing craft ideas.  So I thought I would share a very easy bag.  The measurements can be any size you want as long as both pieces that make the bag are the same size.

SUPPLIES:
Two pieces of fabric (outside and lining) 17 by 12 inches
Two pieces of same fabric (for handles) 2 by 16 inches
Scissors/rotary cutter
Fasteners (pins or clips)
Sewing Machine
Needle and thread (matching lining)
Iron

INSTRUCTIONS:
Handles:
Right side down, fold each edge to the middle lengthwise, then fold in half. Iron.  Stitch down each side.  Repeat with other handle.

Pin the handles three inches from the outside edges to right side of bag.

Place the lining, right side down, on top and pin.  Then sew the short sides only together.
Unpin long sides and iron the seams open.
Pin the open sides together, right sides together, matching the seams, leaving a three inch hole (for turning) on one side toward the bottom edge.
Pull through the hole left, press, hand stitch the open seam with matching thread. Then place the lining inside and pin the top edge.
Stitch around the top at least twice using any stitch you want.  I used two straight stitches and two decorative stitches.
There you have it.  A really easy bag and you can make it in any size.  I made three large ones for shopping.

That's all for today...
Talk with you tomorrow...
