January 12, 2023

When I first looked out the window this morning I saw big, lazy snowflakes...not a lot but they were white.

Now?  It's raining.  Again, not a lot.  More like a drizzle.  And the forecast is for a couple days of rainy, cloudy, dark days.

Today I plan on finishing up the kitchen and then start organizing the pantry which has turned into a place to shove anything and everything!

So Thursday's focus is reading.  I don't know about you, but I used to read books as I got them without reading series in order.  Well, as I have said before, I have been reading Linda Fairstein's series about Alexandra Cooper and this time I read or listened to them in order and it did make a difference.

As the series continued, I could see the development of the characters, especially the main one.  And, although you can easily read the books out of order and understand the plot of the story, by reading in order, you can also see how the plots develop.

My suggestion is that when possible, read a series in order.  And I have enjoyed Linda Fairstein's mystery series about Alexandra Cooper, district attorney in New York.  There are twenty books in this series beginning with Final Jeopardy and ending with Blood Oath.

For those readers who want to explore aging, I like the book The Inner Work of Age:  Shifting from Role to Soul by Connie Zweig.  First of all, this is not a religious book.  It is guide to work thought the inner blocks of later life and embracing and sharing the gifts of aging.

For folks who are working through their religious understanding and how things have changed both personally and institutionally a book by Diana Butler Bass may help.  Her book, Grounded:  Finding God in the World, A Spiritual Revolution, explores the questions of finding and experiencing God in a way that works for the reader in this age.

That's all for today...

Talk with you tomorrow...
