Did you see any of the northern lights last night? We did not...too cloudy here. I remember seeing the northern lights when I lived in Minnesota. They were stunning. Maybe tonight...
Remember the Scandinavian Folded Stars. I made several out of paper, actually magazine pages...
I realized that if the length is short, the width must be narrow. But I also learned a trick. When tucking in the end of a strip, cutting off a portion of the corner made it much easier to tuck the paper in. To understand, check out the picture below...
I was thinking about winter decorations and one thing I have always had was a village. When the kids were young, I made a crocheted one to put under the tree. Later on I received a ceramic Dicken's Village. So, I thought it would be nice to make a winter village out of recycled items. If we make one building a week until Christmas we could have a church, general store, school house and three homes.
I hope you will join me. I did have a small box (5" x 5" x 2.5")...
By making a few cuts and folds, and saving any cardboard cut off, this is what I have now...
So save the recycled small boxes including ones from food like cereal boxes, cake mixes, jello as well as paper towel and toilet paper roles. You will also need scissors and tape or glue. These can be painted or covered with construction paper or even magazine paper, or left as is or you can even use colors and markers on the buildings.
I was not going to cut out windows or doors as I am not planning on putting lights in the windows, but you can if you want. I may use some fairy lights scattered around the village when it's set up or not.
I drink tea and in the Lipton Tea box, there is gold metallic paper that can be used for windows. I bet if you look around you will find lots of recycled things to use. Find a large box to put all those recycled items in that you want to use and let's make a village.
That's all for today...have a good one...talk with your tomorrow...
