PICTURE OF THE DAY:
This was taken on that recent rainy day walk on Mackworth Island...the tangle of bushes and trees at the water's edge was remarkable. Can't wait until we go back...but on a sunny day this time!
FRUGAL FRIDAY:
Well, I did much better this week. I purchased three tops for $3.00 each and one lunch out for $5.99. It seems to me that I am missing something, but for the life of me I can't remember what...
Do you read any 'frugal' blogs? I follow several. Some very extreme and others not so much. I am drawn to the extreme blogs...you know, the ones who spend no money (except for necessities) or the ones that limit their belongings to 100 items or less, etc. I admire their lifestyle even while knowing that it isn't for me. Sometimes, though, they do strike a chord and I wind up reconsidering things.
I think, though, that I fit in more with those frugal bloggers who enjoy shopping at thrift stores and garage sales both for clothing and household items. And I am downsizing and giving away things I don't use or that don't serve any purpose. I just gave away another large box of wooden stamps because I really do not use them. But to clarify, I do think that things of beauty used for decoration do serve a purpose.
I also like to get things in their smallest form. For instance, I like to download ebooks unto my iPod to read rather than having an actual book, and I get magazines digitally when possible...I would read them at the library, but unfortunately, no libraries in my area carry the magazines I enjoy reading.
And I prefer small rather than large. For instance, I really enjoy using my 13" laptop over my desktop. I liked my little tiny 3 1/2' screen television...yes the really tiny portable one. Of course, as it was analog it doesn't get much reception.
I don't know what all this says about me...confused? I guess I am still searching out my 'frugalness' and what it means for me. What about you? Have you taken the plunge into the frugal realm?
I wish all mothers a Happy Mother's Day. And I hope your weekend is all that you want it to be.
