My studio is on the second floor and when I looked out my window this morning to see what all was going on, I looked straight into the cab of an enormous digging machine. Wow! Was that strange.
Hopefully this will help stop all the rain water from pouring down into the yard and then into the house itself! Just in time...more rain forecast for the next several days. I am beginning to think that this is the new norm...wonder what will happen this winter?
I finished getting the patio ready for winter. Unfortunately, I didn't have an opportunity to take all the patio stuff to the garage yesterday. I was going to do that today. So, it is all sitting in the back of SnowWhite, my truck. At least it is covered so if I can't get into the garage today, it will be dry when the rain comes. And looking out my window, there is probably no way I can get into the driveway...it's all dug up!
It may seem like it's early, but that slide into the fall holidays goes fast. And I wanted to get some more ideas. Well, finally, the holiday magazines were out the last time I went to the bookstore and I was really happy...check these out...
I've found several more ideas for holiday gifts to make...good ones...which I will share as I make them. So how about you...are you making any gifts to give this year? Did you know that December 3, 2023 is 'Make A Gift Day'? I actually did not know that.
What I did know, or remember, during the 60's to 90's (that 1960-1990) was that if the economy was not the greatest, women's magazines came out with great gifts to make. And if the economy was good, they came out with lists of gifts to purchase.
Gift giving is interesting topic that probably should be explored. Maybe it's time to rethink the whole gift-giving process. Why we do it? How we do it? How are we influenced to give what we give? I remember when I was young getting a few gifts that were almost all homemade...clothes for my doll, a crib to rock the doll, and maybe a coloring book and colors.
Now we think in terms of electronic gadgets and games to play on specific platforms. I'm not against people having these things...I use my phone, watch, ipad and computer, etc...a lot. And I think giving these things to others is great. But during big gift-giving days like Christmas maybe we should examine why we give gifts. It's a thought possibly to explore...stay tuned.
That's it for today...
Talk with you tomorrow...
