The Month of Getting It Together is over and 28 Days To Declutter has begun. Remember, this decluttering challenge is quick and easy. Only one item a day from the places designated on the sidebar. Of course, you can declutter more, but you only need to choose one item and place it in one of the three labeled boxes: Donate, Discard & Considering (for those items you're not sure about). At the end of the month, you can donate or discard those items and pack up the items in the considering box to put away for three months and then reconsider. Simple, fast and easy.
I have decided to pick a word for the month instead of one for the year...and this month's word is actually two words WELCOMING SIMPLICITY...what else with the current challenge!
Another idea we are going to look at this month is 'you'. How many of us really take the time to 'know' ourselves. We are so busy at times that even taking a few minutes to understand who we really are seems like a bridge too far. The truth is, knowing that is important and we need to take the time to explore 'us'. It's not hard and all you need is yourself, a bit of time and maybe a notebook.
Today, sit quietly and consider who you are beyond the obvious. Many of us identify who we are by either what we do or what type of relationships we are in (i.e.spouse, parent, child, etc). Both of those identities are important BUT they are not who you are. So, take a few minutes today and think about you.
I had fun this weekend creating several different things. I finished one of the Lego Botanicals...
I took the time to learn how amigurumi differs from regular crochet so I can make some of those adorable cute crocheted animals. I really like the way amigurumi decreases stitches. It is harder to see compared to decreasing stitches regularly...
And I made some paper rosettes...
Making paper rosettes is fun and easy. All you need is some paper, glue or double sided tape, a circle punch or cut your own, a glue gun and glue and paperclips. A scoring board is not needed but it does make the creases much easier and more uniform...
The wider the piece of paper you use, the looser the pleating is at the edge and vice versa. You can easily see that in the picture of the paper rosettes.
You will need two strips of paper. The above samples were made with decorative card stock paper but you can use any weight. Folds that are about one-half inch wide works nicely...
Make the folds on both pieces, attach them together with double sided tape (or glue, be sure to let the glue dry before trying to make the rosette) at both ends to make a circle...
