Yesterday, I did get all the plastic film off the second set of garden containers but it took about three hours.
This week was an unusually busy one on zoom. I actually had seven zoom events, at least one a weekday with two on a couple days. They were all enjoyable, though, and I actually learned a lot about my yard from one of them!
So today my plan is to put the containers together and finish covering the back area garden with landscape fabric. Someone asked why I put this down. An easy answer, it cuts down on weeds but it still allows water and air to go through. A winner in my book.
Earth Day this year was this past Tuesday, did you or are you going to participate in any of the Earth Day events? Mary Jane's Magazine has an article about Earth Day and I like one of the old ideas...Earth Day Every Day.
There's a saying in politics 'One person speaking up can change a room; and one room can change a county; and one county can change a state; etc. I think that can apply to taking care of this beautiful blue marble we all live on.
One person doing one thing can change a neighbor; and neighbors can change a community...well, you get it. And if each of us commits to living lightly then we could begin the journey of healing the earth.
Can we get back to our normal temperatures with less 100 year storms, floods, tornadoes, hurricanes each year? Maybe, maybe not. With our participation/intervention temperatures could probably flatten over decades.
The important thing to remember is that action is required by everyone because it's not just the oceans warming. It's the plastics in everything (including our bodies), the lungs of the earth (our forests) disappearing, the loss of bees to pollinate our food crops, etc., etc., etc!
No one can do it on their own, but each of us can do at least one thing. So choose that one thing that you can do, then do it and encourage your neighbors to join you in doing it. Remember Aesop's fable 'The Bundle of Sticks'. There's strength in unity!
So, any plans for the weekend? It's going to be raining here all day Saturday so I'm looking for an indoor event. Or, maybe hiking on Sunday if it's not too muddy.
If it's possible for you, get out and enjoy nature. The benefits are enormous...
Talk with you on Monday...
