Another cool morning and today the high is only 80.

Yesterday we did go on one of three somewhat local tours of barn quilts.  We found most of them, but not all.  And as you will see, some were covered by foliage.

We also spent time at the trailhead for the Slide Mountain Hike.  I walked around the trail head and did some reading while my son went on part of the hike.  One of the reasons it's called Slide Mountain is because the terrain is made up of loose rock in places...not easy to hike up on.

I will finish sharing the Gee's Bend's Quilts tomorrow but today, here's the barn quilts we found...

Finding the barn quilts was fun.  We were on small roads and in some cases even dirt roads.  I was surprised at how many small farms there were in the area.  And this was not the agricultural area of the state.

So today, after exercises, I think I will spend a bit of time straightening up the house but the majority of time I will work on my own projects.  First of all quilting the winter scene project.

I don't know if you have any problems moving fabric around when doing free motion quilting but I find there is a bit of a drag even when using the quilting gloves.  So today I am going to try two different types of free motion mats to see which works the best.  One is called the Free Motion Quilting Slider Mat with Tacky Back and the other is called the New Queen Size Supreme Slider for Free Motion Quilting.  I'll let you know which is best after testing both of them.

It's already the 6th of August...have you made any special plans for the month?  I hope so because the days will slip by very fast and before you know it summer is gone and fall is upon us.

Have an amazing day...
Talk with you tomorrow...
