Can you believe it...November is here, right now...it's already the 3rd of November!  That means that the Thanksgiving countdown has begun with Christmas and the other winter holidays not far behind.  Remember the saying...it's something o'clock, do you know where your children are?  Well, it's early November o'clock, do you know where your plans are?

And for the first time it feels like the winter side of fall.  Still more leaves on the trees than on the ground...check out this picture which is what it looks like outside my window right now.  At the same time, the high today is almost 60!

So there's a new word for the month posted.  I could have gone with the normal ones of thanksgiving or gratitude but right now, in our nation...or even our world, I think kindness could go along way.   For instance, you may not agree with someone's point of view but you can still extend kindness and civility to that person.

And there are benefits from extending kindness to both yourself and others.  First of all it releases the well-being hormone in your brain which makes you feel better and less anxious.  Another hormone released boosts your good mood and happiness.  And, of course, all of these affect your physical well being by lowering your blood pressure, etc.

And let's face it, being kind to one another...and that includes being kind to yourself...is much better than holding grudges, anger and frustration all the time.  I hope you realize that the only person you are hurting is yourself when you are always angry and frustrated.

So there's a new challenge for the month.  It's simple and it's not going to change throughout the month.  Simply extend an act of kindness every day this month...that's all...small acts or big ones...you choose.

Since the shutdown is continuing and economically things are on a downward spiral for most of us, I am planning on focusing on inexpensive ways to handle both everyday life as well as the celebrations that are on the horizon.

That includes,  holiday decorations and ornaments to make that are inexpensive (let's face it...cheap), finding or making presents for folks on a severe budget and finally sharing some depression era meals that are great to eat but cost very little.

Thanks for stopping by...I hope you have an amazing day.  And be sure to make plans to vote tomorrow.

Talk with you tomorrow...
