The temperature made it to 40 but I doubt it will go much higher...and they are calling for a couple inches of snow!!! And here I thought we were done for the year. And, there's another storm forecast for next week!
I have all the supplies I need to start the seeds and that's in this weekend's plans. Planting seeds was this month's intention and there's no real reason to drag this intention into next month, so my plan to get all of them done and set up.
I found some really interesting seed starter kits that came with led lights and really they were not expensive at all. It also has a water reserve compartment at the bottom so there will be little chance of the seeds drying out. Best of all, these can be used again and again.
I will have to transplant them into a larger container one time but I think I may use some of the larger pots in the yard and plant three or four in the same container. By that time, I hope to have the greenhouse set up and ready to use on the deck.
I worked some more on the Spring/Easter card sample. I made three tiny cards to place into the tiny pockets on the inside of the card. These are made using cereal box cardboard to which I added a shiny decorative backing and a beige front on which the flowers are adhered to...
I also figured out how to add pop-up flowers to the inside card. I don't have the flowers yet, but you can see how the card will work...
Finally, I decided that I would add one addition piece of paper making another set of pages (four). These pages open at the top so I can add two envelopes that contain fun things to do like sewing a simple nine-patch or four-patch tulip quilt block...
One of the blogs I read (Tiny Buddha) had an interesting article this past week about how some folks don't seem able to do the often described art of meditation. And that causes frustration for them. What the author discovered was that the simple act of stillness and wonder works just as well. Quietly walking in nature, sitting and listening to the birds singing or the water rushing by, looking at a leaf or a flower and appreciating it's beauty...these things can give you the same nourishing feelings of contentment, happiness and relaxation. Next time you feel rushed and at the end of your rope, take a few minutes to just sit and be...see if that doesn't calm and refresh yourself.
Plans for the weekend? Be sure to include time for something special you want to do. Stay safe...
Talk with you on Monday...
