It's very cloudy out but warmer than yesterday morning at 45 going to a high in the high 60's.  And even though it's cloudy out, no rain is in the forecast.

It's kind of a fitting forecast for those celebrating the Friday they call Good (which never really made any sense to me!).  It is probably the saddest day in the Easter Story for Christians.  The Good News, though comes on Easter Sunday.  Whether or not you believe in the Christian story, it can bring hope for a better time to come, especially for those of us who are weighed down with our current situation.

So, I finished my quilt block making journal.  I made a cover out of cardboard which I doubled so that it would not bend.  (Note:  If you really want to make sure that it doesn't bend, make sure to change the direction of the cardboard so the indentations are going one way on the bottom layer and the other direction on the top when you glue them together!)

Once the glue was dry, I covered the edges with brown masking tape.  I then glued a piece of low loft batting on the outside of the cover, then glued fabric on completely covering both the inside and outside of the cover.  I added lace to trim and then some decorative lace to decorate the front.

To add the pages (cards) I choose to use elastic (small round) so that the page could be removed easily.  I also used a separate piece of cardboard, covered with the same fabric, to add the elastic.  Using an awl, I punched the holes first, than with a large needle I added the elastic.  I then glued it into the inside spine of the journal...

Here's the front cover...

And this is what it looks like with all the pages added...

I can now just grab this when I am traveling on short trips, long trips or when I will be waiting in the car and have everything handy to sew a quilt block together.

Well, today I have lots of errands to run as well as some cleaning around the house.  It would be nice to get out and work in the yard but with all the rain we've had, the ground is rather spongy.  And it looks like rain is in the forecast for the next three days after today!  Hopefully I can get out and work in the yard after that.

If you are celebrating this weekend I hope you have a wonderful time.  At any rate, enjoy your weekend, keep safe (and dry)...

Talk with you on Monday...
