Another gorgeous day...a repeat of yesterday!  No breeze this morning but bright blue skies and breathable temperatures!

Today is a special day!  Why, you ask?  Well, we are getting another cat!  What, you already have three of them!

Yes, but Cookie Monster needs someone to play with.  Our two older cats (in their mid teens), Bear and Tiger, are really too old to play with Cookie Monster and it's easy to tell how disappointing that is for Cookie.

Last weekend we went to the Columbia-Green Human Society and found a year old cat named Kenya who is the same size as Cookie, loves to be with other cats and is very friendly.  We filled out the 'adoption form' and found out yesterday that we were approved!  Going to be an interesting couple of days as they get to know one another...slowly!

I did get work done yesterday.  The patio area was weeded and then I transplanted a couple hosta plants which I found at the edge of the wooded area.  I also deadheaded some peony plants.  AND I did get work done in the greenhouse.

Once that was done, I had some fun in my studio.  I had cut out some small houses out of fabric not quite sure what I was going to do with them but I did glue them down to cardstock.

I cut out one set leaving a white border and one without the border...

I liked the results so much that I decided to try a flower...

I first glued the petals to a pink piece of cardstock.  After cutting the flower shape out leaving a border, I glued it to an orange piece of cardstock and then drew a black border around the pink cardstock.

No, I am not sure how I will use these in my journals but it sure is fun to create some larger pieces of ephemera.  I think I will continue to work on those rather than begin a new project for the time being.

Although I am working on my 'Summer Camp' experience.  One of the areas I want to work on is to discover nature in my own back yard. So I am working on that area today.  I want to learn the names of the trees, birds and their songs, wild flowers, weeds, etc.  I'm pretty sure I can find most of the information on the internet.

I'm developing a 'nature badge' of sorts (Remember, this is summer camp and I remember working for badges when I attended camp eons ago.  I also did that in 4-H!) that will include all the information in a Summer Camp Nature Journal including actual leaves (dried) and pictures, etc.  The vegetable garden at different stages will be included as well as flowers that I plant.  And I would like to have a bird feeder or two to attract birds.

The final element of the nature journal will be to create something with nature...you know that had to be included!  Not sure what but a few ideas are buzzing around in my mind.  And quite frankly, there's lots to choose from!  I'll share the Summer Camp Nature Area tomorrow...

Well, that's all for now.  Have an exceptional day...

Talk with you tomorrow...
