And speaking of working outside, some of the tomatoes on the deck are beginning to turn. I now have four plants with tomatoes and all the plants have flowers.
I also have some small tomatoes in the raised garden beds that are turning but they are tiny tomatoes...
I fed all the plants in the raised beds yesterday and watered them well. I have some summer squash just about ready to pick and I think I will have lots of cucumbers. The bean plants are still growing and they have flowers, but no beans yet.
We were discussing the pollination problem and decided to try and plant a few more flowering bushes near both the raised beds and the in-ground bed to see if we could attract more bees.
We have another wasp problem but it is being taken care of. That probably isn't helping. At any rate, if planting flowering bushes near the vegetable gardens doesn't help next year, then we may invest in one box of bees...but, first we have to figure out how to take care of them.
I did a few more things on the miniature studio and I hope to finish it up this weekend. I'll share pictures next week.
I have been working on tree identification in the yard. Along with 'quaking aspen' we have lots of 'sugar maples' and one 'pear tree'. Unfortunately, our pear tree is not is good condition. This fall we want to take out some of the branches and then early next spring treat it with a fruit tree fungicide spray.
The aspen and maple trees are on located at the lawn edge of the wooded area. There are still a few more trees in the lawn area to take note of before I venture into the wooded area to see what trees are there.
Plans for the weekend? It's going to be much cooler this weekend and next week. And hopefully the air quality will be good because there are some places we would like to travel to on day trips. How about you? Any plans for this weekend? Be sure to include some you time...
Have a wonderful weekend...
Talk with you on Monday...
