Cloudy is what the day looks like and checking the forecast, that's what it will be most of the day with rain called for in the evening.
Well, we got the tunnel finished...part of it is kind of temporary but useable. Three of the cats go outside but Bear the older female is not at all interested. We have to drag Cookie Monster in and Kenya enjoys going in and out. Even Tiger the older male cat has gone out several time.
Well, my bed was delivered to the mail box (just laying on the ground) which is a block away! It looks very small to be a bed but all the reviews were great...going to put it together sometime today. Have to move the other bed first and that will mean rearranging the big upstairs room!
I did take some time to work on a craft...basically crayon on cloth...
I have kept magazine articles for a long time and the very first one (back in the 70's) was about using crayons on cloth. This is something I did with my kids. Many folks keep drawings, transfer them to cloth and make a quilt out of the drawings. I prefer small pictures. Here's one I made yesterday...
It's really simple and most kids enjoy drawing using crayons. To get the cloth ready, cut a piece about 10 inches square and iron it onto freezer paper (the shiny side). This will keep the cloth from moving when coloring.
Crayola crayons are best because they seem to have the highest ratio of color to wax. You can use other mediums like fabric markers and professional colors like IntenseColors.
It's easier to keep to simple pictures and one color per item. Using more colors can lead to a muddy picture. However, I have seen some beautiful pictures with shading and multiple colors on items.
Once the pictures are done, iron them with a medium high heated iron placing first a clean piece of white copy paper on top of the picture. Do this about five time using a NEW PIECE OF PAPER each time. The wax will transfer if you use the paper twice.
To finish, sandwich a piece of batting between the picture and a plain piece of fabric for the back. Quilt it on a sewing machine outlining the picture. Add a piece of binding to finish. Here's the back...
What's nice is that this can be hung with tiny pins in the child's room. And it takes a lot less time than a quilt would take.
Any plans for the weekend? I bet if you take a look at the activities in your community you can find something...even a picnic and walk in a nearby park. At any rate, have an exceptional weekend and enjoy the summer...
Talk with you on Monday...
