The sun is poking it's head up and the skies are beginning to lighten.  It's going to be another bright and sunny day, according to the forecast, with temperatures about the same.  When I swept the entry way this morning around 6am, it was a bit colder than yesterday.

My plan today is to work outside on the raised gardens, pulling the spent plants and taking down the fencing.  I made a great meatloaf along with a vegetable medley of onions, mushrooms, peas and cauliflower earlier this week so there's great leftovers to eat this evening.

We're having a problem with one of our cats...basically Cookie Monster...

He constantly moves the water container to get water on the floor and then he drinks from the floor rather than the container.  We're not sure how this started but we have tried just about everything to stop him doing it but nothing has worked.  I finally cleaned our winter boot tray which has high sides and placed the water on that.  At least the water will not continually go on either the floor tiles or the rug!

So, yesterday's craft was a fabric tic tac toe game.  Here's another way to make the game parts.  Supplies needed:  Cardboard, duct tape, card stock weight paper, clear packing tape, brown packing tape, glue and scissors.

I cut a one piece of regular and one piece of light weight cardboard 8 inches square.  The cardboard I had was white on one side but you can use a regularly colored cardboard.  Make sure the side you use has no writing; however, if your cardboard has writing, you can glue a plain piece of copy paper on it to cover the writing.  Draw a tic tac toe pattern on the regular cardboard...

I used duct tape to mark the lines making each piece long enough to wind to the back.  Once the pattern was done with the duct tape, I glued the light weight piece of cardboard to the back of the regular cardboard to give it a bit more strength...

Next I used the same duct tape around all four edges.  To keep the base clean, I covered it completely with clear packing tape.

To make the symbols/markers you can use buttons, coins or make your own.  I happen to have a circle punch so I punched out four circles of card stock weight paper for each marker, gluing them together and covering both front and back with clear packing tape...

To keep the game pieces together, I took two pieces of cardstock and made an envelope.  I cut triangles on the top of one piece and folded it down.  I placed the top of the other piece at the fold and then at the bottom of the first piece, folded the second piece to the back.  I used packing tape on the sides and closed with craft velcro dots...

Obviously you can make the game pieces even easier and with less supplies...you can simply draw the tic tac toe pattern on a piece of paper.  I was thinking though that it could be a nice to have several sets and have a play-off contest with folks...it would be a nice reprieve from electronic games and encourage actual interaction with one another in person.

Have a wonderful day...be safe...stay warm...enjoy fall...

Talk with you tomorrow...
