This is one of two large mum plants that I only paid $4 for!  I'm not sure how much longer they will have flowers but I have had them for almost a month now.

It was freezing this morning.  I needed to put on a jacket to sweep the entry way which was full of leaves!  Bright blue sky and hopefully getting up to around 60.

Most of the trees across the road are turning now.  I had to make a run to Poughkeepsie this morning for my son...his car was giving him problems on the way to work.  And while driving down the Taconic Parkway I noticed that most of the trees had already turned and lost their leaves.  On the way home we took Highway 9 and in some spots could see across the Hudson River.  The mountains look absolutely colorful with bright oranges, yellows and some reds.

So we are approaching the latter part of October which means Halloween will be here with trick or treaters.  We haven't had anyone these past two years but I always have a bit of candy on hand just in case.  How about you?  Do you have lots of kids or just a few?  I hope you enjoy seeing them all dressed up and having fun.  You may have to hand out fewer pieces but I hope you can spare some candy for the little ones...and have fun yourself while doing so.

This weekend I went into mass making while watching football.  I made 14 small notebooks, each with a bookmark and pen.  I used heavy decorative paper for the cover and regular plain copy paper cut to size and stapled together for the notebook part.

I made the bookmarks with stickers on laminating sheets and fed through the laminator.  I just happen to have a cheap laminator and laminating sheets and I was able to get 8 book marks per sheet.  You could easily just add stickers to a plain piece of card stock cut to size to save money.

I also covered the outside with clear packing tape so they can be wiped off if dirty.  Here's just a few of them so far...

I used washi tape on the front under the clear packing tape but you could leave them plain.  I would use the clear packing tape on the outside of the cover though.  It looks really nice and it's hard to tell that more than one strip of the packing tape was needed.  On the inside I included a pocket on the left side for the bookmark.  And I added a saying at the top of the notebook...

I found pens on Amazon for a little over $1 each that look nice but you could check the Dollar Store for cheaper pens.  I plan on picking up some clear small cellophane gift bags at a Dollar Store to place the notebooks in, tying a cute ribbon bow at the top.  These make nice stocking stuffers holiday gifts.  And by starting now, you can relax while making them rather than hurrying to get them done by the holidays.

I don't wear a lot of make-up but have you see the extremely high prices that make up has risen to?  I was totally taken by surprise.  Compacts I was able to purchase for around $8 (Well known brand that is not too expensive.) are now $19.99!  I shouldn't really be surprised...potatoes actually doubled in price in less than two weeks!

That's all for today...I'm going to go out and do some fall pruning...have a wonderful day...thanks for dropping by...talk with you tomorrow...
