Saturday we rode down to pick up my son's car in Poughkeepsie and the trees on the Taconic Parkway were absolutely magnificent with golds, yellows, oranges and reds!  I hope all of you are experiencing a beautiful fall also.  And looking out my studio window, I see the same colors this morning.

I have a long list of things to do today including working outside finishing up the garden areas.  Today is a warm day...almost 70.  And over the next few days it's going to become warmer!

I'm still feeling uncomfortable from the tooth extraction area.  More from all the pressure in removing the roots than from the actual tooth area.

So are you beginning to make plans for Thanksgiving?  Do you have big celebrations or simple ones?  Lots of folks are just a few?  Or, are you even by yourself?  Irregardless of what type of celebration you have I hope you will make it an enjoyable one for yourself.

We're having lots of folks, many of whom will be spending the night.  Right now I am on the lookout for more chairs and maybe another table with drop leafs.  My mom had a Duncan Phyfe drop leaf dining table and I loved it.  When the leafs were down, the table was very small.  But even if I don't find anything, it will be okay.  We have tons of places to sit.   And believe it or not, we also have enough places for folks to sleep!

About 90% of the menu is decided so I am going to pick up supplies each week so the cost is spread over several weeks instead of all at once.  Actually, that's probably the only way that most folks can afford special celebrations in this economy.  By the way, how was Halloween at your home.  I hope if you had little trick or treaters that you enjoyed seeing their smiling faces!

I am in the process of making another smallish fall decoration.  First I cut out a pumkin pattern...

Then out of thin cardboard (think cereal or pizza boxes) I cut five pumpkin shapes...

I covered each piece with fall scenes or colors on both sides, gluing with stick glue and letting completely dry.  I drew a line down the middle of each shape.  After scoring on that line I slowly bent each pumpkin in half.

Next, using tacky glue I glue two shapes together only at the middle bent line and let completely dry...

I added the third pumpkin shape to one of the sets of two pumpkin shapes gluing at the center line and again let completely dry...

Finally I glued all the pumpkin shapes at the center folding line, with tacky glue, using bull clips to hold until completely dry...

This will be completely dry by tomorrow and I will share pictures of the pumpkin with fall scenes.

I have another great idea for a fall decoration which will need a small dry branch and odd, lost, jigsaw puzzle pieces.  If you have a few minutes, gather these plus some cheap white paint for the next craft.

There's a new word for the month...Thanksgiving...which is very appropriate for this month.  There's also a new challenge.  I could have made it easy and just think of one thing to be thankful for BUT if you make a list and continue adding to that list each day at the end of the month you will realize that no matter what you are experiencing in life, there's plenty to be thankful for!

Have a great day...

Thanks for stopping by...talk with you tomorrow...
