Batteries and Beeps

Yesterday, I decided to go for a ride to do some leaf peeping.   Before leaving I heard a soft beep every minute or two.   Okay, I remembered that this had happened before and I was right.   The battery was low in the carbon monoxide monitor.   So I unplugged it, took out the battery, got a new battery out of the package and put it in.   But it didn't work.   By that I mean it kept beeping.   Okay, so now what was wrong.  I tried removing and replacing the battery again.   Still didn't work.   I decided to take out the battery and figure out what to do when I got back.   It was still beeping, but very softly.

Then, it began beeping loudly...what...no it wasn't beeping something else was beeping.  What was that?   Now, I have to remind you that I live in a leased townhouse and so I wasn't the one to put in monitors.   I looked in the kitchen for something that was beeping.   Nothing.   Then I looked in the stairway.   Yes, there was a smoke detector.   But no, it was not beeping.   It was green and doing fine.

Then I thought, maybe the laundry room...no luck.   By this time the beeping was getting louder.   The carbon monoxide monitor was still beeping also, but softer.  Weird echos!  Then I remembered that there was a monitor in the heater.   But no, it was not beeping.   By this time the beeping was getting very loud and the intervals were shorter in length.   That was odd.

Well, to shorten the story, I finally found it in the dining room way up high.   Another smoke detector.   Down it came and in went a new battery.   It worked fine.

But that left me with the other monitor which wasn't working with a new battery.   I decided to try another new battery.   And this one worked, finally.   So after a couple hours of tracking down and fixing the beeps, I took off.   Started taking pictures when I got the familiar little tune to tell me that the battery in my camera was dead.   My thoughts were not pleasant at that time, but the leaves were beautiful!

I'm still working on my fabric journal.   I added some fabric beads.   I haven't made those in a long time.   It was a lot of fun.

This is the page without embellishments...

And this is the page afterwards...

One more page to finish on this set of four.   These were more romantic in nature.  I think for the next set of four I will go more modern with bold colors.

Hope your holiday weekend was great.   Thanks for stopping by.   Drop in again.
