Football, Cats and Resolutions

January 3rd, already!!!! It is Sunday and, of course, for me more football. I have been on a football binge ever since last weekend. College, Pro, bring 'em on...I love to watch, even when my team loses which they have been doing lately!!! What gives Vikings? Maybe today they will break the losing streak!!

This is my favorite time of the holiday season. That's what my first Journal Picture represents. The calmness and joy of Christmas after all the hustle and bustle. Most folks do not remember that the Christmas Season is 12 days and ends with Epiphany. Of course, we keep our tree up long after that which is why we switched to artificial rather than real but that's another debate.

We live on the East Coast and the last two major storms have missed us. We finally got some snow with this one, but not as much as some folks around us. But it is white and beautiful outside and the snow keeps on falling quietly in the background.

Chip and Dale:
I promise you that I did not pose the cats for these pictures. If you knew them you would realize that they would just turn around and walk away if I tried. They are brothers, but not twins although you might think so in these pictures!!!

An update on the Craft Travel Box:
One of the things I wanted to pack in my travel craft box was my mini-cut 'n press.

Unfortunately, I burned a hole in it a couple years ago with my mini-iron and never got around to replacing it. So I made the rounds of the craft and quilt stores in the area and no one had one that size. Checking on line, I could get it for around $6.00 PLUS shipping but that plus was a lot.

So back to the drawing board. I decided to try and fix it. First I cut the burned area away.

Then I stuffed the hole with a piece of batting.

Finally, I used Steam-a-Seam 2 and a piece of muslin that matched in both color and weight. I ironed it on. Then using fabric markers, I replaced the lines. I really don't use those lines very much, but in case I need them they are there.

I think it turned out quite well. And considering that I don't have to spend any of my $25.00 (remember my attempt at being frugal this year?) it was a win-win all around.

Here are some of my Christmas Presents....5” by 5” samples of a variety of material. They will definitely go into my travel box. I'll post the rest later.

Resolutions:
So what are your feelings about resolutions? I always like the idea of new beginnings and January 1 seems as good as any. As I've grown older, I realize that many that I used to make really in the long run don't mean much. But there are some that I am toying with for this year beyond the usual lose weight, exercise more, etc., etc.

One of the blogs that I read recommended a site that had a different take. The site is Christine Kane's Blog and her take is based on Your Word of the Year. This should get you to her site about it. (http://christinekane.com/blog/free-download-word-of-the-year-discovery-tool/) I think it is unique and worth your time to at least check it out.

Well, I am off to craft while watching my football games. Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Thanks for stopping by...
