Ice Melting!

The temperature reached just above freezing today so a lot of the ice has melted!  Of course, it's already below freezing now so anything wet like my patio and the roads have frozen making travel not too safe.

Tomorrow, though, the temperatures will reach the forties and Saturday will be in the sixties.   Maybe I can put back my patio things and enjoy sitting outside.

I've been watching some unique documentaries.   One was on birdwatching in Central Park.   I have always loved watching birds and setting up feeders, but have never been a 'birder'.   I think when I get to NYC, I will have to look into this opportunity.

I even have a great bird book which my husband used to tease me about calling it my Million Dollar Bird Book.   And, no, it wasn't a million dollars.   It was more like thirty dollars which was a lot at the time I bought it!

Another documentary was on Greenwich Village in the sixties based on the book 'A Freewheeliin' Time:  A Memoir of Geenwich Village in the Sixties.    The documentary was so good that I am now reading the book written by Suze Rotolo which I am finding hard to put down.

And right now I am listening another documentary on New York City in the fifties.   Do you see a pattern here?

JOURNALS:
I do post a weekly journal prompt for folks who enjoy keeping journals...all types of journals.  People who keep journals do it for a variety of reasons from keeping track of daily events, to expressing their feelings through images and words, to exploring their spirituality, to even trying out new techniques, etc.

I don't use pictures, and definitely not personal pictures,  often in my journals but when I do, I use them to express a feeling.    I have never really done storytelling in my journals but a lot of people do use their journals to create stories.

When I travel, I often think about the folks in the cars and trucks around me, wondering about their life story.   Many times, I will create stories for them which depend upon the geography of the area, the car they're driving, who is in the car with them, etc.

I think it would be interesting to take photos, again, for me, not photos of any family or friends, but ones which I have found at antique stores, thrift shops, magazines, newspapers, etc. and create stories about the people in the photos.

I'm going to give this a try and let you know how it goes.   I think it will be an interesting challenge and a very different experience for me.   How about you?   Do you ever create stories when you journal?

Thanks for dropping by today...
See you tomorrow...
