WINTER'S PAST, ARTISTIC DOLDRUMS & LOVE THIS STORAGE CONTAINER

Remembering past winters. This photo was taken when I lived in the two-story house in Portland. I remember having to dig Lady J out of a snow drift that was over her hood. Wonder how SnowWhite would handle that snow.

So the winter deep freeze is still here in NYC but I do see signs of things warming up. Tomorrow, for instance, is going to be right at 32 degrees. The temps go down to the low teens for a couple of days but then I even see 40's in our future. I can handle that...actually, would welcome that. I don't mind the cold but without snow it does seem pointless, doesn't it?

Let me ask you how you deal with artistic doldrums? I seemed to have hit one, of sorts. It just may be my decision to make the holiday season less frantic and more relaxed. I hope so, but not sure. Two avenues, ones which I have tried before, became apparent yesterday while reading through the blogs I follow.

First, Daisy Yellow is doing a 365 day art challenge, similar to her 60 day index card challenge which I have taken part in several times. Then I read that the One Little Tag Challenge is continuing onto it's third year. I did participate for one year but then dropped out.

I'm wondering if I should participate in one or both this year. They don't take much time but they do kick me out of my couch potato stance and force me to get active. What do you think?  Yes? No? Maybe So? I am warming up to the idea of attempting both. I could do similar themes each day in two different methods/techniques. Well, I will ponder the idea for a couple more days before deciding. In the mean time, I will make a few of each just to get into the rhythm of creating.

On another note, have you seen these moveable storage units which are really all over the place?

I have always thought they would be a great addition to my studio so I purchased one after Christmas (on sale, of course) and now I am rethinking my whole studio arrangement. What I like about this storage unit is that everything is at hand.

A lot of times when I want to try something out, I have to go to my shelves search for all the items I need which takes time. And then when done, I need to put the items back into their separate spaces.

Wouldn't it be easier to have everything, say paints, brushes, drawing pencils all together and easily accessible? I think so and have already done that. In the top shelf is everything I need to plan the day, read, meditate, even exercise videos. I used to store these items in separate places. No more.

I see more of these in my studio's future but probably not until I move to my new digs. But it is  definitely an idea worth considering. Of course, storing all my fabric and sewing supplies that way would not be conducive but maybe storing each project would be. I have to be honest, if I see another great sale on these storage units, I will probably purchase another one (or two...or more!!!)

That's it for today. Next up is my second (of three) exercise times. Hope you're staying warm in this deep freeze. Be well...

Thanks for stopping by...
Looking forward to talking with you again...
