Have you ever gone to the store and forgotten half of the meal. I wanted to have coleslaw with supper this evening and completely forgot about it. So much so that I didn't even write it down on my grocery list!
Not sure how supper will turn out. I made a simple bean casserole with ground beef, barbeque sauce, pork & beans (canned), biscuits and cheese. Well, they didn't have the right biscuits...all they had was the large grands. And even cutting them into quarters, it took forever for the biscuits to get done.
But now that supper is over, it tasted great, the biscuits were actually done and everyone had a second helping. And no, we didn't even need the coleslaw!
So today's craft is a small crocheted wreath. Later on we will make a larger one. All you need to know is how to crochet a single crochet and slip stitch. Check out this picture...
The supplies needed are: 4 ply yarn, assorted colors, crochet hook H,
scissors, steel ring or heavy wire and duct tape.
First of all the ring. I had a hard time finding one so I used a binder ring.
You can make your own by using a stiff wire and duct tape as shown.
First you want to crochet about 30 single crochets onto the ring.
With the yarn behind the ring, push the hook through from the
front and grab the yarn...
Put the hook with the yarn loop on it on top of the ring...
Then grab the yarn from behind the ring and loop it over...
You have three loops on the hook, pull the last loop made
through the other two leaving one loop on the hook making
a single crochet...
Slip stitch through the first single crochet.

(Note: I did change yarn colors after the first round and again
after the third round but you can continue with the same color
for your first wreath.)

Remember the crocheted snowflakes and how it is hard to make
just one? Well, the wreaths are the same way. I have made at
least a dozen.
Enjoy...
