Well, I woke up to between four-six inches of snow but now it is sleeting. The temperature is in the mid 20's so the sleet is creating a layer of ice on the snow. Glad I went out yesterday to pick up the things needed...don't think going anywhere right now is a good move!
And internationally, things are not good. The invasion continues with an out of touch dictator trying to bring back the cold war and establish an old union. The number of folks in his country who rallied against this move was heartening. I agree that we should not go in and fight but we do need to continue to send supplies to Ukraine.
So today is the last day talking about exercise. Next week we will begin a new focus not only weekly but for the month.
The last two major benefits of exercise are important. First, exercise helps maintain muscle strength which naturally decreases as we age. And keeping our muscles strong aid in what we can do AND it is important for balance another component that decreases as we age.
Finally, exercise increases our life span. More time to spend with loved ones. More time to play with grand and great grandchildren. More time to appreciate the wonder of life. More time to spend doing what you enjoy.
It's funny, exercise would help so much healthwise both physically and mentally and yet most (including me) simply do not want to spend those few minutes each day exercising. Even though it means fewer trips to the doctor and less money spent on medicine.
Don't misunderstand me, I don't really enjoy exercising, but I do something every weekday. I give myself a break on the weekends. I may go hiking or fishing on the weekend but I do not participate in any exercise routines. I found that if I give myself permission not to exercise on the weekends, I am more inclined to exercise on weekdays.
Figure out what works for you (and don't forget to check with your doctor). Be sure to give yourself freedom to create a schedule that you are comfortable with and will continue to do.
Talk with you Monday...
Enjoy your weekend...
