February 9: Gratitude

The temperature is heading for the high 40's and the sun is shining brightly...now if the 'ice rink' that is my patio right outside the back door would melt, then I would feel comfortable getting out and running some errands.  There is hope for today...I am seeing lots more grass...and if the sun reaches the patio and it's still warm, then the 'ice rink' may melt!

So what are you thankful for?  I have to tell you about three things that I am really thankful for that I discovered during the pandemic.  They may have been there all along but not well known and perhaps not online as much.

First, I love Senior Planet (https://seniorplanet.org/get-involved/online/)with it's online exercise and stretching classes.  I have been looking at those classes for several months but I finally took the plunge and took Morning Stretch.  It is now a regular part of my weekday daily routine.  I will be adding one more weekly class on strength training.

Second, I love Get Set UP (https://www.getsetup.io/) with it's enormous offerings of classes covering just about every topic you can think of from book clubs to current events to cooking to hobbies, etc., etc., etc.  The prices range from free to, well, I don't know because everything I take is free.

Right now I take a zentagle class every Monday morning (before my morning stretch class).  I also take a weekly drawing class and a weekly painting class.

And third, I love EventBrite (https://www.eventbrite.com/d/online/events/) online classes.  Again, there are a ton of offerings some free and some for a fee.  I am taking a weekly writing class (yes, it's free).

One thing I really enjoy about all of the above classes is that you get to know, share and talk with the other participants.  It becomes another community to belong to around a subject that you enjoy.

So, again, I ask what you are thankful for that you enjoy and may want to include on a regular basis?  See how I encompassed all that we have been exploring?  Daily routines, joy filled moments and gratitude.

Look for something that you want to do that would encompass your thankfulness.  Anything that you both enjoy and are happy to be involved in...maybe it's a choir, or a knitting class.  Try it out and see how it fits.  If in the end you are happy and thankful to be involved, then include it in your routine - daily, weekly or monthly!

Talk with you tomorrow...
