March 10: Discovering Yourself

Well, we wound up with at least four to five inches of snow.  It did look like a winter wonderland with everything covered with snow.  But it is already 50 degrees out and the next couple days are in the high 50's and low 60's so the snow is not going to be around long.  As a matter of fact, it is melting right now.

Bombing a maternity/child hospital is totally unfathomable to me.  This Russian invasion of Ukraine is going to go down in history as one of the worst military actions in the modern world.  And the Russian dictator is not getting what he wants...as a matter of fact, he is getting the opposite even if he takes over Ukraine.  In one fell swoop, he has managed to strengthened both NATO and the European Union.  And the people of Ukraine and the people of Russia are paying the price.  So very sad.

So how are you doing with taking time to discover yourself?  What sort of gems have you found?  Did considering your story provide any insights as to how you respond to certain things?

Take time to reflect on what you have discovered.  Keep writing a few things...word or phrases in your small journal.  Take a look at the 'Me Tree' if you created one.

There is one more 'kindergarten' coloring activity that you can do.  I found this on line but added a section.  Basically, take two pieces of paper, card stock or bond.  On one piece cut out two 'doors', then place it on top of the other piece of paper and either glue or tape it...

This represents your 'home' so decorate it as you want.  The door on the left is to the main house and the door on the right is to the basement...

Once you have decorated your ' home', open the door to the left, the one to the main part of the house and either draw or write how about all the wonderful things that you have discovered about yourself.  Under the door to the right, the one to the basement, write or draw who you were or things that are no longer you.  Once you have done this, tape the door closed symbolizing that those things are done.

It sounds a bit corny but it's a symbolic way of representing who you are now.  And it helps you to understand that who you are now was partially built upon who you were.   But, who you were is no longer who you are now.

Talk with you tomorrow...
