March 28: What Inspires You?

I hope spring flowers make an entrance soon...I need new pictures to post on my blog.  Yesterday and today were/are cold, but friends about forty miles east of us had snow last night.  We didn't...not sure how I would have handled another field of white!!!

So, SnowWhite is being used for commuting by my chef son.  He was rear ended a few weeks ago and his car was totaled.  So now he has to look for a vehicle.  This was not what he needed right now as he is also house hunting...talk about luck!

He did look at four houses this weekend, three of which were not acceptable because their yard although big was not really usable...mostly boulders and rocks.  The fourth was a possibility but not great.

So today is the fifth week of March.  Kind of a bonus week.  I was thinking about what to focus on this week and I decided that the monthly theme was perfect...inspiration...in other words, what inspires you?  The definition of inspire is 'fill with the urge or ability to do or feel something'.  This is really personal to each of you.  And what inspires you today, may not inspire you tomorrow.

For instance, I love the PBS series 'Call of the Midwife'.  But what really moves me is the opening music.  It transports me back to the time when my husband and I were dating and our early marriage.  It always tugs at my heart when I hear it.  It inspires me not to do anything special but to be full of gratitude for that time in my life.  Crazy huh?

Here's another example, completely different.  I was looking for a scrap idea to use with my magazines other than paper collage or 'Christmas Trees'.  I stumbled onto this YouTube video about making butterflies from magazine pages and I was off and running.  Take a look at a few that I made...

They really are beautiful.  I am making a mobile with about a dozen or so butterflies.  What's nice is that I only need one page and a bid to glue.  And when I am finished I can just dispose of the butterflies.  I did try heavier paper like the magazine cover and it worked but there are fewer folds due to the thickness of the paper.  There are many patterns but here's the one I used:

So what inspires you?  A book? A tv show?  A beautiful sunset?  The call of a bird?  The smile of a child? A piece of art?  A moment of music?  Just about anything and everything can inspire you.

When you are inspired either to do something, make something or feel something, make note of it and see if there is a pattern to what inspires you and the outcome.  And then, when you are inspired follow through and use that inspiration.

Talk with you tomorrow...
