March 4: Creativity

I guess you can call this photo wishful thinking.  I am looking forward to spring, better yet, I am looking forward to less up and down weather...20 degrees one day and 65 degrees the next.  It does wear one out.

Today is the last day with the focus on creativity.  I love the quote for today.  It reminds me of the 70's!  That's 1970's...just jump and enjoy where you land.  In other words, take a risk and see where it gets you.  I have to say that in mid life, that's exactly what my husband and I did....with four young kids in tow...and I wouldn't change an iota of the 'jump'.  It worked out fantastically.  It does take courage, though, but the rewards can be so great.  What a wonderful way to approach creativity!  Try it...you may just like it.

Our last craft this week is a yarn bird using up scrap yarn.  Here's a picture....

There are several ways to make these little birds.  Check out YouTube for a variety of instructions.  Supplies needed are:  Yarn, scissors, glue, wire, small piece of yellow felt, stuffing, cardboard (four inches and one five inches) two beads for eyes and wire for feet...

For this bird I wrapped two strands of yarn around the four inch cardboard 20 times.  Repeat.  Then for the third yarn, wrap it around the five inch cardboard 30 times...

Place the longer yarn bundle crosswise under one of the shorter bundles...

And tie the longer bundle (white) as shown...

Tie the other bundle together as shown...

Place the remaining bundle under the tied bundles as shown...

And tie as shown...

Lift up part of the longer bundle (white) and place some stuffing as shown...

Tie all the bundles together as shown...

Trim the loose strands of yarn to shorten and even out.  Using wire, make two bird feet...

Cut a small beak out of the yellow felt...

Use glue on the legs and work into the body of the bird.  Fold and glue the felt beak to the face of the bird. You can also use glue to attach the beads (or use needle and thread to sew on.). That's all.  They are cute...

Enjoy your weekend...

Talk with you on Monday...
