This past weekend was very nice for spring. The grass finally got mowed and let me tell you, the dandelions are popping up all over. If I wasn't preparing for a move, I would harvest them and make some dandelion wine. Haven't had that in at least 50 years!!! I think it would be fun to try my hand at making some next year.
The week's temperatures are in the mid 60's for the most part with rain forecast only for tomorrow, but who knows what the week will bring.
We grilled out this weekend...vegetables and hamburger...first time this year. And the food tasted wonderful and smokey. I have to say that I missed that this winter. It was the first winter that we did not grill outside all winter. Normally, my chef son will grill out several weekends during the winter.
So today brings a new focus...actually...several. In other words, a hodgepodge of things beginning with your clothes.
Again, where you are in your life's journey will dictate some of what is needed clothing-wise as will your profession. One thing that the pandemic has done is to relax the 'dress code' for many. And many of us are working from home and that affects even more the clothes we need.
One word about purchasing. Women's clothes fashion change. Trends tend to last about three years but fashion designers come out with new lines about every three months! Keeping up with the latest designer lines can be expensive. And they don't last that long before new items are needed to keep up.
A better way to purchase clothing is to watch the trends and purchase as good a quality as you can starting out with basics. For instance, the little black dress is still in vogue. Purchasing a plain, well fitting one will give you the option to dress it up, or down, with accessories. A tailored jacket is also a good investment.
A great way to save money on purchasing clothes is to try second hand stores including Goodwill. The Goodwill Stores in the northeast are exceptionally great places to look for things. I have purchased several new items including a no iron dress shirt that after seven years still looks new every time I wash it. And I can find plain old jeans without the stretchy fabric.
But remember, a sale item that you don't need is nothing more than a waste of money...not even good retail therapy!
Take a good look (just look) at your clothes to get the feel of how much clothing you have. A lot. Very little. The clothes are busting out of the closet! Do you see any color trends? How about style trends?
Now take some time to think about what you need in the way of clothing. Do you need to dress professionally every day as you are out and about? Are you working from home? Family time? Volunteer time?
Tomorrow, we'll look at closely at your wardrobe and compare it to you needs.
Talk with you tomorrow...
