It was raining when we got up and it has continued until now. At least it is a gentle rain and not a downpour.
Yesterday when I was out and about, some of the rivers were down but were still out of their banks. Guess they will be growing again.
I was true to my word, I did no yard work, nor work in Duchess. I dropped off items to Goodwill and filled the gas tank in SnowWhite and then simply enjoyed the rest of the day creating in my studio.
One thing I made was a new cover for my art journal. The original cover was not wide enough. The new one is three times wider than the original cover. The covers are similar in that I 'slow-stitched' pieces of fabric scrap together, then added ephemera and I used one of the paper medallions I made as a way to fasten the book...
I continued to use elastic to hold the signatures in so that I can easily take them out to work on and create new pages.
Today I have a zoom meeting and I want to work a couple hours in Duchess as well as make dinner...a simple one.
I discovered a new cosy mystery author...Joy Avon. Her series is called the Tea and Read Mystery Books and the first book is 'Peppermint Peril' where the characters are introduced. I enjoyed listening to the book and am on the second one. If you like cosy mysteries, check out Joy's books.
Question? Do you read or listen to books? Any type of books? I hope so because reading/listening really does expand your horizons as well as being enjoyable.
A long, long, long time ago when I volunteered at the base in Mobile to help folks learn how to read and do math, I remember the joy on the faces of folks when learning the language began to make sense and then when they were able to start reading. It opened a whole now adventure for them. One that they cherished far more than most because it was hard earned at a later stage of life.
So, if you can read, count your blessings and use that reading ability. You never know where it will lead...
Have a great day and stay dry...
Talk with you tomorrow...
