What do you think?  Is fall around the corner?  I was out yesterday and one thing I did not see was leaves at the end of their life...you know, looking tired, a little shabby and their green is not sparkling.  The leaves I saw were still bright green and ready to stay green for a while.

At the same time, summer is winding down for folks around here.  The end of August signifies the beginning of school which is early this year as Labor Day is Monday which means back to school on Tuesday...next Tuesday!

It's mid-morning here and the temperature is only 73...nice and cool, bright and sunny and no rain in the forecast.  There wasn't any rain in the forecast yesterday either, but it did rain!

My one eggplant plant has given me seven eggplants so far and there are more on the vine, at least five.  I have never had success with eggplant before...but then I have always had success with tomatoes and they are doing basically nothing.  Although, I have to say that all of a sudden the vines look better and my yellow pear tomatoes seem to have developed many tomatoes over night.

My son made moussaka yesterday following a new recipe and it was excellent.  I normally do not go back for seconds but I did yesterday.  Next he's going to try another of my favorites...baba ganoush.   I used to find it in the delis in the city, but it hard to find upstate.

I'm still working on the second chapter of not listening to my inner critic but I decided to take a look at the third chapter.  It's about taking our accumulated experiences (and at this age, I have a lot!) and incorporating them into my creative adventures.  And use your experiences to try something new and unconventional.  The activity is to try to write down 100 uses of a pencil!

I thought this was crazy at first but then realized that after the conventional uses, I had to start thinking outside the box to come up uses.  One I thought of is attaching a piece of balled up cellophane tape unto the end of the pencil to retrieve a coin that fell into a floor heating unit!

Why not try your version of this activity.  Something like 100 ways to bake a cake.  Or, 100 ways to use a piece of paper.  At first it's easy, but then you really have to get creative to come up with 100.

As a prelude to the beginning of 'fall' which for me is September 1, I did one hour and ten minutes of exercise.  I have really fallen out of being regular about my exercise but now it's time to get 'back to reality' as the commercial says.

If this is your last week of 'summer vacation' be sure to include at least one fun thing that you meant to do but hadn't gotten around to it.  You will not only have accomplished something, it will be fun doing it...

Talk with you tomorrow...
