Well, it's not warm today! It was only 15 degrees when we left early this morning.  But the high will be in the low 30's.  A couple inches of snow is forecast for tomorrow.  A second river was out of it's banks this morning, but not too far out.

And why did I get up and leave the house before sunup?  To pick up my son's car so he could drive to work and I now have SnowWhite!  It was only a 24 hour turn around to fix his car this time.  They still need to order one more small thing and put it in but its on backorder.  The car tho is working just fine!

I did spend a lot of time in the studio yesterday working on three separate projects.  First off, the air dried clay.  I decided to make some mushrooms.  In order for them to keep the stems long I added some brown paper around the stems...

This morning they were dry enough to take off the paper...

This is the first time I have worked with this particular brand of air dry clay and it was much harder to smooth the clay.  Still, they aren't too bad for a first time in a long time.  I plan on painting them and adding an acrylic finish.

I also started a new junk journal with soft pastel pages.  I cut the large papers (12" x 12") in half and glued the halves together...

I added a strip of clear tape down the center on both sides of each piece to reinforce the strength where the pages are stitched together in a book.  I then stitched around the edges of each piece...

My plan is to make this a spring journal with lots of ideas and supplies for slow crafting.  Not sure how it will turn out but I will keep sharing as each page takes shape.

Finally, I found a free several day tutorial on collage making.  It actually began early this month but all the days and lessons are taped and will be available until the 23rd of this month.  It's called 'Collage Breakthrough' hosted by Catherine Rains.  Check it out if you're interested.  I choose to not paint the collage pieces but use some papers from my junk journal supplies.  Here's the first lesson...

I excited to see how things progress.  There are actually four lessons with video segments both before and after.

Last night I read some of 'bella grace:  book of lists' and I loved it.  Lists  like "Everyday things that bring me joy" and "The magic of summer".  It got me to thinking that maybe list making is a good thing, especially if it slows down the mind and lets you concentrate on joyful things including everyday ordinary ones.  Sounds like it might be a good challenge!

Speaking of which, how are you doing with your intentions?  Have you been able to sort them into categories or patterns?  Have you decided if you want a few large intentions or several small ones?  We're halfway through January and the 'intention' is to have the list done and dusted by the end of January so you can begin the adventure.

Have a fantastic weekend.  Work on your intentions.  Enjoy some you time and stay warm and be safe...

Talk with you on Monday...
