Bright and sunny outside with very little if any breeze.  Going to be warm in the city (NYC) and close to 70 here.  I may be able to get outside to do some more fall work!  There is rain in the 10 day forecast but at least only a bit, not days on end!

So this is basically the last week of October!  Are you ready for Halloween?...it's on Saturday this year so there may be more trick or treaters than normal.  We don't get any here but I am going to get some candy to hand out just in case!

How are you doing with this month's challenge?  I hope it has shown you that there are plenty of everyday, ordinary but wonderful moments to cherish in your life.    Yesterday's moment for me was the sheer excitement of Cookie Monster as we opened the window with the tunnel that goes out to the catio!  He definitely loves the outdoors!

Have you ever gone done the rabbit hole on YouTube looking for some particular thing or just watching the shorts?  I find that I sometimes wind up down that rabbit hole more than I want but still I continue going down...what's with that?  Are the algorithms so attuned to what appeals to me that they keep pouring out those particular shorts?  I guess so.  And that can be dangerous...before you know it, an hour, or two, or three have drifted by and you haven't even realized.

I guess you could say that I am extremely fond of football...and let's face it, I am.  But spending a few hours watching something I really love is much different that wasting it on video shorts some of which I enjoy and others I don't. If I remember right intermittent rewarding keeps someone doing something more than regular rewarding...well, that makes sense, I anticipate the next short will be what I am looking for and eventually it comes.

Don't get me wrong, I do a lot of research on the internet and yes there are times when I go from one thing to another, but that in search of some particular thing.  And, yes, I even use YouTube to look for that particular thing but I really am frustrated by the insertion of other things between what I am looking for which encourages staying on so I don't miss something I am looking for.  

I can see how folks are addicted to things like YouTube shorts which are attuned to what you want and provide it just enough to keep you looking.  I hope others are too so they understand that they are being manipulated by algorithms which of course raises money for the particular app they are watching.
