Ocean Springs, Mississippi

If you find yourself between Biloxi, Mississippi and Mobile, Alabama be sure to spend some walking around time in a small town called Ocean Springs, Mississippi.

You will not be disappointed.   Check out the Welcome Center located in the old train depot for maps and information.   They will even give you a five dollar coupon in the form of a wooden nickel to use at one of the many participating shops just for signing their guest book.

The town has lots of art venues, gift shops, antique and what-not shops, restaurants and a bakery and candy shop (check out their pralines - they are delightful!)

Some of the artwork that greets you first...

The art galleries and gifts shops carry a wide range of things like...

and...

The small bakery was filled with both sweet and savory items...

And the drugstore had an old fashioned fountain plus their own cream soda...
(And that cream soda was one of the best ever.)

And when you're tired of walking and shopping, visit the park on the beach.   There are two wharfs to walk out on, a children's playground, restrooms and plenty of places to sit and just relax...

A highlight would be a visit to the Walter Anderson Art Gallery.   Be sure to watch the video about his life to give you some insight into his art.   And be sure to check out the community center (attached to the gallery).   Walter Anderson painted all the walls and they are quite something to behold as you can tell...

Well, folks, that's it for now.   I spent most of today getting the trailer ready.   Tomorrow I will finish the job, do some laundry, hook up the car so the three of us (Chip and Dale and myself) can take off early Saturday morning to points west and north.

Thanks for checking things out here...
See you tomorrow...
