Today's craft is a cloth booklet with four pockets which allows you to carry a number of things from a sewing kit to a notepad, It is very easy to make.
Supplies needed: Fabric - 2 types, batting, Chenille yarn (or ribbon), pins, scissors/rotary cutter, iron, sewing machine, grid.
First cut two pieces of fabric 10" by 10 and 1/2"...
Place one piece of fabric on grid (10 and 1/2 inches lengthwise) at top, front side up and fold up to five inch mark..
Next, fold the top piece back down to the six inch mark (the piece will then be 10" by 6") and iron. This makes a pocket. Repeat with the other piece of fabric...
Next, cut two strips of fabric (one from each fabric) about 1 and 1/2" wide and 10 and 1/2" long...
Fold both sides in so right side is facing outward and iron. Repeat with other strip...
Place these strips at the top of the pocket...
Sew the strip to the top of the pocket on both pieces of fabric.
Refold both pieces to make the pockets and place right sides together. Cut a piece of batting the same size and place on top, pin and sew two sides and top...
After sewing, trim sides and corners (a small triangle piece off corner being careful not to cut thread)...
Turn right sides out (batting with be on the inside). Make sure the corners are fully turned. Fold the bottom side in and pin...
Now sew all around the four edges...
Fold the piece in half, mark the center line and sew as shown...
Finally, there are many ways to close the book using ribbon or even velcro which can be sewn on. I chose to use some Chenille Yarn which I first braided using the sewing machine needle (without thread) to hold...
Decide which side you want to be the outside. Find the center point of the yarn/ribbon and sew it the center of the outside piece on the same line you sewed down the middle...
And that's it. Your done. A Four Pocket Cloth Notebook. It's an easy project that can be done in a very short time...
