I assume that the abundance of these flowers means they are invasive weeds, but I think 'Queen Ann's Lace' are very delicate and kind of like snowflakes...no two are exactly alike.

Well, it did rain a lot yesterday but we had no flooding.  The streams and rivers are probably high again and some may even be out of their banks again.  Today is cool...still in the 60's this morning.

Cookie (our new kitten) got the run of both my studio and the large open room upstairs.  He seems to favor my studio and has been making a mess of my paper activity area.  And he found (make that took off the shelf) a piece of fabric and has been playing with it.  Good thing it's not one of my best fabric pieces.

I did get my latest fabric project ready to quilt...

Hope to work on it this weekend.

And now for the block patterns.  I began with the 'Hour Glass Quilt Block', divided it into nine pieces and created the different blocks.  Check out these pictures...

And this is just a few of the blocks I made out of those nine pieces.  I think that I heard that most quilt blocks are designed from basic blocks.  That's really an interesting idea.

Well, today I am going to see the Gee's Bends Quilt display that's at a town about thirty minutes away.  I'm really looking forward to that.

So, it's the first day of August.  I was wondering about a word for the month.  Most words attributed to August are in the regal mode and I'm not interested in those types of words but I did think that 'Grand' could apply.  Grand ideas, grand vacations, grand stacations, grand projects, grand rest & relaxation times, etc., etc., etc.

So what's the challenge for August?  Making time for lots of rest and relaxations sessions.  You know what comes after August...the delicious but busy days of fall...

Have a great weekend...
Talk with you on Monday...
