Believe it or not, our rose bushes are still producing a few roses. And what I like about these roses is that they have a wonderful, but delicate, fragrance.I am going to check out how to take care of them. I remember my mother trimming them back quite severely in the fall, but most books suggest a less severe trim in the fall and the more severe trim in the early spring. And after the spring trim, they suggest a good feeding. I think that's what I will do...going to add it to my calendar today.
The tall bush next to the side entrance, which none of us can identify even when using those plant identification apps, have buds on them. I can't remember them blooming last year. Even looked at some of my pictures from that time and none show blossoms. Going to be interesting to see if we can actually identify the plant through the blooms.
I did get a couple layouts finished for the layered journal. Check out these pictures. The first set is of the smallest page...basically the cover page and the outside have collages but no pockets, etc. The inside pages have pockets. The left hand is a duel side and bottom pocket with a matchbook notebook and the right side is a triangular pocket with notebook.
The next set has a pocket with a tag and a very long attached notebook. On the other side there is a pocket with a notebook on the left side and a waterfall on the right side with words or phrases on each of the decorated pages. It's been fun working on the journal. I still have several more pages and hope to work a bit on them today.
But, I need to get back to quilting the latest wall hanging. Unfortunately, the sewing machine does not seem to like the metallic thread. Most of the quilting is done with that thread so I need to figure out the problem. Going to replace the needle with a better metallic one...hope that does the trick.
I'm also having to reorganize my studio. The metal cubic shelves keep falling apart (even without the help of the kitten) so I need to take them down and find something to put in their place. They worked well in my other studios, but they were bracketed by wooden shelves. I don't have that ability in this studio unfortunately, and I'm afraid they will come down and hurt either the kitten, cats or someone.
This will be my focus for the week. The garden doesn't need tending right now and the house is in great shape (other than a non-working dishwasher) so I have time to work on it.
How about you? Any projects that need tending? Work them into your schedule if you can?
There's a new challenge on the sidebar...
Talk with you tomorrow...
