And, I was able to find a spot to stop and take a picture. It was very cloudy out so the colors don't show up as vibrant as they were...think more orange and yellows!
I did spend some studio time on Wednesday. I wanted to try something completely different as well as find a new ornament for the tree. So I began by cutting out two each of 4 inch squares, 3 inch squares and 2 inch squares of fabric...
With right sides together, I stitched around each side leaving space on one side to turn...
Once, trimmed and turned and pressed, I stitched around the edge about a quarter inch from the edge. I then folded and stitched as shown with a single piece of fabric. First I folded one side down but not in half...
Then I turned it over and folded both sides in and stitched along the top about half an inch from the top...
Next I sandwiched the large piece into the middle size piece and those into the small sized piece and stitched down the middle to hold together. I also added a small strip of the same material, enough to make a loop, on the back...
Here's the front side. It doesn't look like much now but I will stitch each point and and folded area together with beads and it will look like a decorated Christmas Tree...
I saw something similar on YouTube but they folded it differently and I simply could not get the same effect with those folds! At any rate, I was able to spend time in the studio!!!
I have a few errands to run and I need to find places for the things I purchased at Sam's Club. After that, it's studio time!!!
Any plans for the weekend? We're visiting family on Saturday and then relaxing on Sunday. Maybe some yard work, raking leaves and cutting down plants that are ready and recommended to be cut in the fall.
Considering the political circumstances and the increase in costs of living planning low key, inexpensive outings seem like the way to go...like visiting family, or having a picnic, enjoying the fall colors or just relaxing and reading a book or playing a game with the kids or baking a batch of cookies!
There's a new challenge posted in the sidebar...
Have a fantastic day and even better weekend...
Talk with you on Monday...
