It's a lot later today...around the noon hour...and it's only 44 degrees. They are calling for a low in the mid 20's tonight. At least there's no rain but last night, believe it or not, there was snow in the area! No wonder my body is confused with this weather...warm one day, cold the next, hot one day and freezing rain the next!
We are about two thirds of the way through April...how are you doing with this month's "Spend Less Challenge"? I'd like to say that I am spending less but, quite frankly, with the grocery and gas prices increasing almost daily, I haven't been able to spend less at all.
I am trying not to buy anything not needed but I have included my soda and coffee (made at home) in the needed column. You have to have some perks in this economic situation. My suggestion is to do the best you can and save where possible but keep a few items that you really like and want in the 'needed' column.
This weekend I did something that I normally don't do. I watched YouTube shorts on some favorite creative subjects and tried making those that especially interested me. For instance, scrap fabric roses. I made them small so I could use them in the journals...the largest is about the size of a quarter.
To make them, I tore narrow, short strips of fabric from my scraps. Folding in half, I started the center by rolling several layers and securing with a drop from the glue gun. Once the center was secure I continued winding around the center and twisting the strip at the same time, securing ever so often with the glue gun. This is what I created...
I did add a small round piece of felt on the back. They are ready to use either in a junk journal or on a fabric wall hanging.
Another video I watched reminded me of a craft I have done many times. Making beads out of rolled up paper. Believe it or not, I only used two pages torn out of a magazine from which I cut very, long narrow triangles. I wound the strips around a dowel, securing the last three inches with glue to hold. I need to paint them with a clear finish and add end caps and then use them...
If you have YouTube available, try doing what I did and watch a lot of shorts on creative ideas that interest you. Then try making one or two of the ideas. In my case, there was no cost and I bet you can find ideas using what you have on hand also.
It's fun, it's cheap and who knows, you might find some new ideas that really spark your creative juices.
Have a fantastic day and stay warm...
Talk with you tomorrow...
