Today is going to be a comfortable day both back home in New York and out here in the west!  Highs in the 70's.  Sunny skies to begin but there are rain storms forecast for out here in the west which they desperately need.

Yesterday we took a ride out to the Yellowstone Power Diversion Reservoir.  The drive out to the reservoir is on a very bumpy dirt road but the area is beautiful with fishing, several trails to hike on and the water.  It's also high up in the mountains so the temperature is significantly cooler than lower levels.

Following the time at the reservoir, we stopped at the BlueBell Grill (established in 1915) in the tiny town of Bluebell for a great meal of brisket sandwiches.   Here are a couple pictures of the area...

I made a small journal for myself this past weekend.  This one is basically made out of medium size envelopes with a cardboard cover...

The front cardboard cover had a bend in it so I added, with brads, a second piece of cardboard to strengthen it.  I added strips of cloth to use as a closure and added paper beads to the cloth strips...

So this journal has a very specific use.  It's to use when I am out hiking or walking in nature.  There are three different items.  On the back cover is a strong piece of covered cardboard (two pieces) to use when drawing or writing.  It's held in place with three pieces of round elastic and can be removed easily...

There are three of each of the two remaining items.  The first is a three envelope segment.  Two of the envelopes have cards to draw on.  There also are four pages to write on...

The third envelope in the above item has a strong pocket to hold larger items as you can see on the left hand side of the below picture...

The final item has two envelopes with each envelope pocket containing a thick paper card into which I can place small flowers and leaves, etc. for drying.  When I get home I can then move these items to a flower press...

Instead of sewing the signatures into the journal, I choose to use elastic to keep the pages in.  That makes removing and adding more signature (pages) to the journal very easy...

This journal is small enough to carry when out in nature and use for writing and drawing about a specific area as well as hold small items for drying.  I know I'm going to enjoy using it.

That's it for today...have a wonderful day...talk with you tomorrow...
