Trying Something New...

Today has been a busy one.   One of those days where you have appointments that kind of waste the whole day and leave you exhausted when they are done.  Unfortunately, tomorrow looks like it may be a repeat of today.

But it is evening and I am home relaxing and enjoying my 'Season of Orange'.   I actually have ten pumpkins with lights scattered around.   Sounds kind of tacky, but they leave a very nice ambient, orangish light.  I'll take some pictures later this week.

These are pictures of some of my older wall hangings.   The round seat cover is on the old stool of my pump organ.   Although they have been around for quite a while, I still enjoy bringing them out for fall.

Lately I have been trying my hand at ATCs (Artist's Trading Cards).  The prospect of creating something small and trading it with others really intrigues me.   There are a lot of sites on line dealing with ATCs.   YouTube even has several videos on how to make them. The fact that they are so small 2 1/2" by 3 1/2" also make them less intimidating when you begin.   Yet, as small as they are, I have seen many beautiful and creative ATCs.

These are fabric based.   The top one is simply scraps, much like a crazy quilt.  The other two are are more fussy cut with trim added.   I found that the best medium for me to use is Mod Podge both for adhering the pieces to the background as well as a top coat finish.

This set is a collage made with origami paper, butterfly stickers, gold trim and a copper edging.  Using the origami paper then lead me to try making paperdolls.

And I have really enjoyed making them.   I used scrap paper for the clothes.   The best thing I found to protect them was crystal clear packing tape used on both sides.  For some of the paper dolls I used a tiny piece of self-adhesive hook and loop tape  - one side on the back of the clothes and the other side on the front of the paper doll. One thing I have not been able to do successfully is put on a face, so I am leaving the face blank for now.   And yes, the whole thing is the size of an ATC.

I took this picture in the French Quarter in New Orleans because the scene was so bright and happy that I couldn't help but smile.  I hope your tomorrow is bright and sunny.   Thanks for stopping by...I hope you drop in again.
