Small Is Beautiful

I like small things.   I was really upset when I could no longer use my tiny portable tv...the one with 3.5” screen!  They do make digital portable televisions, but most are with 7” screens.   The 3.5” ones available are quite a bit different from the one I had....they are smaller, but not quite as dependable.   That's probably more a function of the technology than anything else.

I do watch on my iPod and my iPod touch...especially movies and podcasts.   Most people think I am crazy, but I prefer watching on them rather than the big tv we have.  (Yes, I am a Mac person but I also have a pc and an Ubuntu computer which is really a Lenox system like the Mac, but it is a free operating system.)

And little gadgets...I love little gadgets...especially ones for crafters.   I probably have more than I will ever need or use, but the draw of the clearance aisle is sometimes more than I can resist.

Take, for instance, stamps.   I am always drawn to the sale bins, especially those that are a buck fifty for a nineteen dollar beautiful stamp.   I even have a good friend who gave me every color of stamp pad in BOTH water based dye for paper and pigment dye for fabric.

And I have watched folks use stamps and make beautiful items with them.   Problem is...they never work out for me...never!!!!   Then I realized I really preferred drawing rather than stamping.   But I actually am envious of folks who stamp because I simply cannot produce anything even remotely acceptable with stamps.

I do know someone who is great with stamps and has been looking at mine with a bit of desire.   They don't know it, but they are about to get a big box of stamps and stamp pads.

And that brings me back to small.   I can take all 150 of my pencils in a very small container along with some drawing pads – small, of course.  Add my 3” by 5” portable watercolor set and I am already to go.  If I brought all my stamps, I would have to add a large suitcase.    Do you suppose that is why I'm no good at stamping?

And quilting...what do I make...small pieces, miniature pieces....do you see a pattern here?

More later.   Thanks for stopping by...
