Simple Living and Work

Once again, a winter weather advisory is predicted, so here is what I am wishing for...
Flowers!  Spring!   Less snow!

Okay, now that I've gotten that out of my system, let's look at today's ideas about a simpler life.   I told you that I have been reading Wanda Urbanska's book  'The Heart of Simple Living'.   She has a chapter on something that I really had not thought about in conjunction with living a simpler life.   And yet, I guess I had...somewhat.

Your career, job, calling!   What you do to make money.   And how it fits into your overall simple living lifestyle.   Quite frankly, her advice is to find what you love doing and pursue a plan to do it.   Now, that makes sense to me...perfect sense.   I just never thought about it in relation to simple living.

And now I am doing the proverbial head slap while saying 'dah' to myself...I can't believe that I never really put the two together.   But it does make perfect sense if you think about it.   How can you simplify part of your life and yet leave the 'work' area untouched.    And if your 'work' is diametrically opposed to your lifestyle,  where does that leave you?

Urbanska's book does give steps to evaluate your 'work' life including plans to help you find what interests you and to change your 'work' if that is what you want.   Your first question would be to ask yourself if you are satisfied and fulfilled in your 'work'?   And, if not, what would you like to do?   And how would you get from what you are doing to what you want to do?

I'm not going to go into depth about this...there are lots of resources for you to look at when evaluating your 'work'.   I just want to draw attention to the relationship between your 'work' and your lifestyle.
It's so obvious that, like me, you may not have made that connection.  And then again, maybe I'm the only one with blinders on...
