Trying Something New

Today has been cloudy and cold...at least there's no snow...but I wanted to remind myself that just down the road (actually, down the mountain) I spent a day experiencing a beautiful spring adventure (and warm weather)!!!!

I like to share some type of crafting adventure on Thursdays.  I have to say that I have wanted to try this before but just never got around to it.    What, you ask, did I want to try?   Paperclay!!!  And if I knew how easy it was believe me, I would have tried it before...

So here are the things I used:   Paperclay, wax paper, a roller, a couple of molds and tiny cutting forms.

First, the molds.  I took small piece of the paperclay and pressed it into the molds using the roller to level the tops...

Then I tried the cutters.   I took a larger piece of paperclay and rolled it out to 1/4" thick circle.   I then used the cutters to cut out shapes.   A pencil (eraser end) made it easy to push out the paperclay shapes.   I also found out that if I ran my finger around the bottom edge of the cutter before pushing out the paperclay shapes, they had a smoother edge.

The instructions say that paperclay is air-dried and can take up to three days to dry out completely depending on the thickness.   I checked out the little forms about two hours after making them and they were well on the way to being dry...

So what am I going to do with these cute little paperclay objects?   My mind is spinning with ideas!!! They will be lightweight and easy to glue in place so journaling comes to mind immediately, but I could use them to decorate a vast number of objects.

You could take a plain jar, adhere paperclay objects, then paint over them for a very cute and inexpensive vase, etc.    I could use them to decorate fabric pictures.   Bookcovers!   Plain boxes!!   Okay, I'll stop now because I think I could add to the list for hours.   What do you think?   Have you ever used Paperclay?  I'd love to hear your ideas...

Thanks for visiting...
