"Stuff"

So, today was busy...and the warm weather from yesterday left only to be replaced by much cooler weather.   I won't say cold, but the heat is on!!!

I took another large, LARGE load to Goodwill this afternoon.   Lots of furniture and big things like heavy, large pots for planting plus three boxes of 'stuff'.   Sometimes I wonder if the 'stuff' will ever end.   Do you ever feel like you have too much 'stuff'?  And the scary thing is that we had lots, lots more 'stuff' before we pared down with the initial move to Maine.

But, I will say that we did enjoy all our 'stuff'.   And we had large enough homes to use our 'stuff'.   Don't read that McMansions, just large homes to us...somewhere in the 1500 square feet range (including basements).

Of course, we did have up to eight folks living with us plus tons of drop-ins, especially at dinner time!   And we collected our 'stuff' either at giant mark-down sales (My husband could find remarkable sales!!!) or at yard/tag/garage sales.   And we did have fun tracking down all that 'stuff' and displaying it.

But now, in this new phase of my life, I only want to keep those things which are really meaningful to me...thus the continued paring down of 'stuff'.

So here's this week's list of goals:
- Sort and pack tools - set for car, set for trailer and set for home
- Finish sorting and packing everything in the big bedroom
- Pack everyday dishes
- Sort and pack common room upstairs
- Lose one pound
- Continue taking stuff to Goodwill
- Continue working in trailer
- Continue bringing down picture albums
- Sew one quilt top
- Finish last village house

That sounds about right.   What do you think?

Speaking of trailer (Well, it was in the list!!!) I took out the remaining books and dvd sets.  I also put up some of my art work...

You can see under the shelf in the bottom picture a portion of the cat's fence.   By placing the shelf in this area, I was able to gain more useable space as well as have a place for things like the fence and the folding table and chairs.

This was what it looked like prior...

It may seem a bit more crowded but it allows me to store things better.   You will also note that I used to hang pictures up using magnetic bars.   Instead of that arrangement, I screwed in a strip of decorative finish wood so I can hang more things using thumb tacks.   I thought it was a smart idea...and very cheap.

Well, that's it for today...
Thanks for visiting...
See you tomorrow...
