The Real Countdown Begins - Fourteen Days and Counting

Hear that...it's me heaving a very, very, very big sigh.....

Looks like almost all the leaves are down now.   Does that mean that we are at the beginning of the end of fall?

So, the trip to NYC was good and not so good.   First of all, the drive was pretty bad...torrential rain, snow and sleet!   The only positive was no ice on the roads which, by the way, were full.   Actually, I drove home on Saturday and the weather was fine, but, boy, the roads were full once again.   However, the traffic moved well.

My car was packed with stuff for the boys like this...
...plus all the Christmas presents for two families.   Yeah.

How was the parade?   Well, it looked okay but I wasn't there.   Wednesday evening, after arriving, the news said no to the balloons.   Thursday morning at 5am - no balloons; 6am - no balloons; 7am - no balloons and this was the latest I could leave and get there.   So, with no balloons, I chose not to go only to have them make a positive possibility at 8:35 and then give the go ahead five minutes before the parade began!

I understand the need to be careful and if you saw the parade, you could see that the balloons were so low that the handlers could reach up and touch them.   So, the wind was pretty bad.

On a brighter note, I did have fun.   Thanksgiving dinner was served at a local Cheer's-like neighborhood bar which invited anyone who wanted to come, especially those with no place to go.   We brought a ham (?) which went fast.   And, we watched football.   A fun time was had by all...it really was a lot of fun.

And there was a ton of food and lots of fellowship.   I'd do it again in a New York Minute!

So, how did I do with last week's goals?   Well, the only one left was to load the car up and take the donations to Goodwill which I did today.   I think rather than listing goals for the week, I will tell you briefly what I want to get done each day.

Today, I wanted to completely finish packing and cleaning up the big bedroom as well as go through the clothes once again.   I did go through the clothes and donated another thirty-five garments/suits.   Here's what's left...
And here's what I am still deciding about...
Sorry about the quality of the pictures but you get the idea.

Tomorrow and Wednesday, I want to finish up the common room upstairs.   It's mostly done, but I need to bring down the packed boxes of which there are only six so far.   But I have to say, these are large containers with quilts, afghans, and bedding.

I also want to make final decisions on the clothing and move most of what I am keeping to the trailer.  And, once again, fill the car with donations like the clothing, some furniture and a few other odds and ends.

I purchased bed-bug free bags to put the mattresses and box springs in so I need to get the beds in the bags.

And, if time permits, I want to sort through the rest of my things in the little bedroom, finish up the last quilt, wrap presents and clean up my desk.

Well, this is becoming a long post, so I will stop for now.  I hope your Thanksgiving was as fantastic as mine was...

Thanks for sharing your time here...
See you tomorrow...
