Here Comes The Second Polar Vortex

"Wonder How Long This Will Last?"

Well, Polar Vortex Two is about to hit. It rained today while I took down all my patio stuff and stowed it in the car. Also, filled up the empty propane tank (that's how I cook and heat my trailer. And there's a shortage in Alabama!). Picked up a few things from the store. And now I wait.

Wait for what you ask? Well, it begins with an ice storm layering about 1/3 inch of ice over everything. Now, the first ice storm I had in Maine a couple months ago was only ¼ inch but it was awful. Remember me telling you that I had to melt ice on the front porch and steps with hot water?

Following this ice storm is snow. Not a lot. But down here no one – NO ONE – knows how to drive in winter weather.  Add to that falling temperatures and you have one big mess!

Thus, tomorrow will be a day for creating at home in my cozy little trailer! That's the good news.

And speaking of creating, I am working on another bird made out of paperclay. I really like using this stuff. It's very forgiving...

I began with a piece the size of an egg, then shaped it into an egg-shape.   I took some clay out from the inside on the bottom and used that clay to form the head and tail.   To smooth out any areas where pieces had joined, I simply used a wet paper towel.   Now it air dries.

MOBILE MOMENTS:
The History Museum of Mobile. This is located downtown at Government and Royal Streets. Close to the water. Close to a lot of neat places to visit like Fort Conde.

The architecture of the building is striking. And it is painted white which emphasizes it's details. There is also a lot of unique ironwork. I have several pictures of the outside. And although taking pictures inside is frowned upon, I would encourage you to take the time to visit this museum. It is quite interesting.  Where else can you find a doll with a frown on her face?

Well, that's all for now folks.  I'll just sit here and wait for the ice to accumulate.   I will take pictures.  After all, snow and ice in Mobile is unique!

Thanks for visiting...
See you tomorrow...(if I have electricity!)
