Do you ever look at the shape of trees? I do. It's like clouds...I look at clouds and see, oh, an elephant, or a bird flying by or some other shape that tickles my fancy.
Here are three pictures of trees that I took recently in Fairhope, Alabama. Take a look and let your imagination wander...what do you see?
So, did you see anything? I saw a woman holding up her arms in the top picture. I saw a waterfall in the middle picture. And in the bottom picture, I saw a skater turning round and round really fast. Close to anything you saw? Probably not.
We each see with our eyes and our mind's eye. And how we perceive what we see is dependent on tons and tons of experiences. Something I've learned to do is to look at an object, see it with my eyes and understand it with my mind's eye; BUT, then I let go of all those predetermined factors by saying to myself...'My, that could be....(whatever pops into you thoughts)'.
It's a way of freeing your mind from facts and opening it to imagination. You could look at a tea pot and imagine a house for a fairy; or, a tree and imagine a woman holding up her arms!
That's what I want you to do today with one of the big dreams that you wrote down yesterday. After spending time thinking about those three goals/dreams, which one stood out? Did you dream about one? If you had to make a quick snap decision on one to concentrate on first, which would it be?
Of the three that I wrote down in order of preference, it was the second one that stood out for me and was that a surprise!
So, let's consider the one that stands out the most for you...take a sheet of paper and write it down at the top (or, if you want, on your computer).
Now what? Now write down a detailed description of that goal/dream? How do you see yourself achieving it?
For example, the quick goal/dream: Write a Book. The detailed description: I want to write a book that everyone will read and love, one that will help folks, that will be on several best seller's list and will land me a contract for several more in a series. (No, that's not mine, by the way.)
After you have finished writing your detailed description, take a few minutes and really think about it...really think about each and every aspect of the detailed description. Does everything seem important? If not, what stands out...what is the most important element of your description?
In the above example, I would choose writing a book that would help folks as the most important. Your choice may be different. Whatever your choice is, though, be sure that what you choose is truly your choice.
So, now that you have really narrowed down your first goal/dream. Think of twelve steps you can take to begin achieving that goal. Continuing with the writing example, steps could include writing daily, creating a blog to sharpen your writing skills, creating or joining a writing group, taking a writing course either free and online or at a college, etc., creating an outline for the book, etc.
Tomorrow, we'll look at how to put those twelve steps into action.
Before I leave, I want to share my latest inchies...
'Falling leaves' is the title. They are leaf cutouts embedded in a thick layer of clear acrylic, edged with metallic tape. Actually, I like them a lot...of course, anything with orange will get my approval!!
Thanks for dropping in...
See you tomorrow...
I hope it's warmer where you're at...
