When I set up housekeeping in Maine, I
hung up my wind chimes. When it was time to leave, I decided to
take them with me and set them up at my campsites.
So, I have two inside. One is made of
pieces of thin round shale and it sounds like rain. The other is a
very small wind chime that has a light delicate bell-like sound.
Outside, I have one wind chime with
very long tubes and it has a deep, rich sound. The other wind
chime has shorter, thinner tubes and has a melodic sound. Four wind
chimes, four different sounds.
It was very windy this past Tuesday and listening to all the wind chimes was like listening to a very unusual orchestra with all the basic sound ranges (base, middle and upper) along with percussion!
I do have one more wind chime packed away. It's
very old and made of pieces of glass about the size of microscope
slides. It belonged to my grandma and I remember it hanging over a
floor furnace between the living room and dining room of her home.
Whenever the floor furnace came on, the chimes tinkled with delicate,
musical sounds.
How about you? Do you like wind
chimes?
I finished the weaving and I have to say it was a lot of fun. It's hanging outside on my trailer and adding some decoration to the patio...
I'm gathering pieces of fabric to create a picture next. I do not have a specific picture in mind this time. What I am going to do is to look at my fabric scraps and pick out about thirty pieces that really 'speak' to me. I'll take from there. Spontaneous creations!
How about you? Do you ever just take out a variety of stuff and create. It's lots of fun and very freeing. Try it sometime. I'm not saying that planning is obsolete or something you shouldn't do, it's just that sometimes giving yourself permission to just create let's you think 'outside the box'. AND have fun!!!!
Thanks for checking in today...
See you tomorrow...
