No this is not all the snow we got this past weekend - about another three inches came down. It was light and powdery so not hard to shovel. We did have a bit of wind but our experience was nothing compared to the coastal areas. And as I said before, the high this coming Thursday is 50! Go figure...
Yes, I know this is still January, but I planned my changes around weeks for the most part. So today we are changing our focus for the month of February and this week. Our focus for this month (February) is 'Happiness' and this week's focus is 'joy'.
The most important question this week is 'What brings you joy?' First of all, what is joy? Well, it's a feeling of great pleasure and happiness. So I ask again, what brings you great happiness? Your answer can vary from having a smooth morning to taking time for something you love to do.
For me, my happiness yesterday was having both teams I was rooting for win...(Unfortunately, my Vikings weren't in the running!).
Another thing about joy is that what brings you joy doesn't have to be 'BIG' like a change in career or a life change like a wedding. Joy can be felt with little things like, as I said, a smooth morning routine, or a cup of your favorite coffee.
What I would like you to do is make note of the joys in your day. If you can't find any, then you need to take a look at your outlook in life. Do you see that glass half full or half empty? Yes, it does make a difference. A difference between optimism and pessimism. As an optimist, one sees a positive, hopeful life. As a pessimist, one sees a negative, despair filled life.
Maybe you should try looking at that glass as half filled. In other words, think and act as though life is hopeful and positive. By doing that you may see all those little experiences of joy, like the first snowflake, or making an angel in the snow, or even a smile from a stranger.
And smile...smile...smile! It's hard to be negative when you're smiling!
Talk with you tomorrow...
