February 18: Crafting Fun

Another day in the mid to high 60's before the temperature plunges into the 30's.  Wind was the word for last night.  All the snow will be gone by this afternoon...the only snow left are tiny patches in the shade but they are even smaller than yesterday.

Today's craft is creating beads.  Supplies needed include paperclay (or your own version of paper mache or paper clay - recipes on YouTube), toothpicks, chenille sticks, acrylic paint, brushes, Diamond Glaze or another finish medium.

To create the beads, form several shapes, then poke a toothpick through to make a hole for stringing...

Allow the beads to air dry.  (I put mine on a radiator.). Once dried apply a coat of white acrylic paint...

Once the white paint has dried, then the fun begins.  Decorate each bead as desired...

Here are close-ups of my beads...

Once the paint has dried apply a finish acrylic with a brush.  I used Diamond Glaze to give a deep shiny finish and allow to dry...

Finally, string with other beads to make a necklace or bracelet...

Be sure to spend some time this weekend on 'you'...

Talk with you on Monday...
